Installing a metal roof could be the best decision you can make in your house construction. This modern system of roofing offers many advantages. Unlike other roofs, metal shingles are more lightweight and portable. They can last up to a hundred years without requiring too much maintenance. And not only does this roofing system give residents the convenience they want, it also gives the house the stylish appearance it deserves. Metal roofs are not simply technically and practically advantageous; they are also aesthetically beneficial! Now, can your roof do that?

Metal roofs come in different colors. These colors, however, do not merely improve your house’s appearance. As you’re about to see, they are more than that!

Metal roofing colors, which provide beautification and at the same time, protection, come in a wide variety: different colors have different effects. To guide you on what to choose, here are some of the tips that you can consider before installing a metal roof on your house.

First things first: you ought to determine the company where you intend to buy your metal shingles. There are manufacturers that provide their buyers color selection tools which can also be accessed on their website. Online materials as such could be clicked to give a look or a hint of what the house will look like if one installs a particular color of metal roof. It is best though that you do not rely much on print-outs since printers tend to distort and alter the color from the original soft copy.

Next, choose a metal roof color that has been proven energy efficient. Such roofs are included in the Energy Star list because they give consistent house cooling and heating. As physics tells us, lighter colors reflect back more heat than darker colors, thus cooling the interior temperature of the house and reducing energy costs. Some of the approved energy saving colors are Evergreen, Ivory and Light Grey.

Also consider the environment of your house. If you want your residence to stand out among your neighbors, use a metal roofing color that is different from the usual colors in your vicinity. For instance, if most people have roofs with darker colors, install a metal roof with a lighter shade and vice versa.

Lastly, identify how much money you are willing to spend for a colored metal roof. Different metal roofing colors have varying costs. Some could really be expensive. But on the long run, since metal roofs are a good energy-saving material, you’ll see that you’ll have your capital back within a year because of the savings that you continuously accumulate through using this roofing system.

Generally, there are three main types of pool cleaners you can choose from, according to different needs and budgets. Without doubt, pool cleaners work much better than solely using chemicals for cleaning, as they continue to clean dirt and debris from the pool during the day. Listed below are the most common types of equipments used for pool cleaning.

Vacuum Cleaners
Vacuum pool cleaners are the most popular type of machine cleaner because it is also the most economical among the varieties available in the market. Some of the models come in portable features. The hose attaches to the skimmer or ports in the pool, and the suction is generated from the pool pump. Pool vacuum cleaners can be used on all hard- and soft-sided pools, including vinyl or fiberglass. The cleaner moves around the pool in random patterns and place the debris in the pool filter. While it might be easy to install and maintain such type of pool cleaner, it does not work well in taking away a large number of floating leaves that may be present in the pool.

Pressure Cleaners
Pressure cleaners are more expensive than vacuum cleaners. Hence, it is important to know its advantage. Even if it costs more, you can be assured that this type of pool cleaner can work more efficiently. To use such, the cleaner’s hose must be placed to the area where the water flows into the pool from the filter. As its package comes with a pump that creates a force, the water creates a vacuum-like phenomenon which propels dirt and debris. These dirt and debris are being deposited into the pool’s filter or, more commonly, into a bag that serves as collector without clogging the filter itself. Pressure cleaners also distribute filtered water into the pool. This kind of gadget is more difficult to install and operate, but is notably more convenient to use as they efficiently remove debris, dirt or green algae on the floor of the pool.

Automatic Cleaners
These are the most effective type of machine for pool cleaning. They are powered by electricity. Automatic swimming pool cleaners operate on a timer that is being set in a range usually between one to four hours. Thus, they get the cleaning task done in the shortest possible time. Some automatic swimming pool cleaners, like robot cleaners come with their own filtering system. Robot pool cleaners increase your quality of life by taking away the tedious task of manually cleaning your pool instead of using traditional cleaning. They do not need to be attached on a pool pump or filter. You need to simply put them into the pool when a cleaning procedure is needed. Robot cleaners aid in circulating the water and has an internal pouch to store removed dirt, leaves and other debris. It is designed to have an independent system. Having automatic cleaners is an advantage since they are easy to install and adjustments are not necessary needed.

Cat flaps both benefit you and your pet. Thanks to these devices, you won’t be disturbed by your kitty’s loud meows and her irritable scratching on the door, which inevitably force you to stand from your busy desk and open the door for her. This can happen anytime of the day: while you are busy with your paper works, while you are eating your meal, while you are taking your bath, while you are sleeping. This is definitely annoying.

This is where cat flaps become necessary. These pet devices let your cat in and out of the house on their own; she just simply slips through the flap and there she goes― free, happy and independent.

There are different styles of cat flaps that are available nowadays. The simplest model allows cats to pass through the swinging flap. Through this your pet can have unlimited access inside and outside your home. Yet this also goes for other stray animals like squirrels, raccoons, small dogs and even cats you are not familiar with. These uninvited foreigners can penetrate your house in spite of your knowledge, and the next thing you know, your house is in tatters.

Do not worry. There are models which offer safety features to both you and your household. The group of these models is usually called the petsafe cat flap. This type of flap has various control systems which prevent the entrance of stranger animals in your house. Typical control systems include magnet, infrared and microchip.

Magnet operated petsafe cat flaps allows the entry of your pet through the magnet attached to her collar. The switch will only operate once it detects the incoming presence of the magnet. It is important though that the cat doesn’t lose her collar. If she does, even she cannot enter.

The infrared key operated petsafe cat flaps perform almost the same as the magnetic system. The key is also attached to the collar; however, if you are living in a neighborhood which also uses this system of cat flaps, you might opt to make sure that the infrared key color that your model has is different from your neighbors. This would prevent your cat entering other houses, and their cats entering yours.

If kitty does not feel comfortable wearing a collar, you might opt to choose the third petsafe cat flap system: the microchip. You need not to replace lost collars and force her to wear one since you have to place the chip on your cat’s body. The microchip sends off a signal that will open the flap. On the other hand, this model is costly since your cat has to be “microchipped” to make it work.

Cats are born scratchers. They scratch for different reasons. They scratch because they are giving off a territorial signal to other animals nearby, because they have to sharpen their claws, and because they need to limb up. Walking, jumping and balancing on rooftops and walls could be really exhausting for a cat if she’s not exercising regularly. So the next time your cat scratches against your sofa, the leg of your chair, or on your carpet, you would know why.

But no one can tolerate every furniture going down and being replaced monthly because of the cat’s “harsh” behavior. One of the ways to stop this is by giving your feline pet a nice cat scratching post.

Cat scratching posts are available in different specialty shops, even online. They come in various types and features which your cat will surely love.

Carpet Scratching Posts. Carpet, as you might know as a cat-owner, always attracts cats and turns their scratching instincts on. That is why carpet cratching posts can surely catch the attention of any cat because of the roughness of the material. On the other hand, this post isn’t very durable; it shreds easily. Also, it can get very dirty that it needs cleaning every week.

Sisal Rope Scratching Posts. Sisal ropes are very durable; they can withstand harsh claws for several months, even years. This type of post is very appropriate if you want to establish a vertical scratching behavior for your cat, that is, carpets and other horizontal house accessories (seat of the sofa, bed, among others) are not meant to be scraped.

Wood Scratching Posts. Wood is also one material that almost all cats fancy. Although this type of post is not as popular as the firs two, it can give your cat the sensation closest to the feeling of a wild cat scratching a tree in the woods. This post is very durable; it can even be stronger than the sisal rope post. It rarely wears away and breaks into pieces. But the fragments of the scratched surface might sometimes cause mess on the floor.

Cardboard Scratching Posts. By far, this type of post is the newest of its kind. And not only the newest, this style of cat scratching post is also the cheapest on the market. Many cardboard cat scratching posts are refillable. It means that you can just buy a set once and then avail the material where the cat scrapes afterwards. This post also has holes for catnip. However, these posts shred easily, which not only gradually wrecks the material, but also creates mess on the floor. Another disadvantage of this kind is that it could contain different chemicals which can be harmful to your kitty, which at times, loves to chew cardboards.

Change is an important element in our lives. Redecorating your house, apartment or room is one of the easiest ways of making some positive changes that will affect your mood, your lifestyle and your energy levels. It has been proven that the way we arrange and organize our things has a great influence on our state of mind. For example, if your home is clean and all objects are well-organized, you’ll feel calmer as well. And vice-versa – if your belongings are scattered all over the place and you can’t remember the last time you vacuum cleaned, it’s more likely that your state of mind will become chaotic, reflecting the surrounding mess.

So don’t underestimate the power of style and balance when it comes to your interior design. Even if you already like the way your home looks, you can still implement new ideas from time to time. A new ambiance will refresh your mood every time you come home, bringing you some additional pleasant emotions.

String curtains are a relatively new accessory. They are quite affordable, but the atmosphere they create is indeed special and unique. Until recently, they were used mostly in public locations like hotels and restaurants together with beaded curtains. However, thanks to their many aesthetic and practical benefits, these curtains started to become more popular in homes.

How can you use string curtains? The most obvious answer is to install them at your windows. They have the capacity of filtering the sun rays in an amazing way, creating in your home a fascinating game of light and shadows. You can also use them to divide a room – for example, to separate the cooking area from the eating area in the kitchen, or the sleeping area from the working area in your bedroom.

If you have some unappealing ‘storage areas’ in your home, you can hide them with minimum effort. It’s very easy to conceal cluttered shelves and closets without doors by installing a set of string curtains in front of them.

And, of course, you can use string curtains as simple decoration. If you don’t have enough money for an expensive original painting and you’re wondering how to decorate that empty wall in your living-room, why not being ingenious? Create an original wall decoration by mixing together several colors of string curtains that match the style of the room. I can assure you that this way your interior design will become truly unique!

It’s really a sad picture each time I imagine huge chainsaws cutting down trees while and big truck hulling them to deliver firewood to consumers. In the contrary, I can’t imagine myself without our wood-burning fireplace.

Recently I have started using briquettes as firewood substitute. I read really good reviews about briquette. Unfortunately, it is not available in most countries since it is not mainstream industry yet. However, one should realize that briquette is not the ONLY firewood substitute there is — paper bricks exist.

So what are paper bricks? More close to paper mache, actually, only that you don’t mold it to fancy shapes — just plain bricks. The concept is pretty simple. Soak some newspaper in water and let it become mushy. Put the mushy paper inside a brick mold, remove excess water by squishing it out and let the brick dry. The end-product is a newspaper brick which you can throw in your indoor fireplace.

Brick makers used to be readily available to almost all hardware stores before, but now they have become scarce. So if you can’t find one in your local hardware, go online and search e-bay, there are brick makers sold there at around $30-$40. If this sounds too expensive, try garage sales, there should be at least a brick maker amongst the goodies. And if all is in vain, make one for yourself or hire a friend carpenter to make one for you — it is basically a rectangular mold with a press (for squishing water).

So now, let’s assume you have all the materials need (which is just newspaper, brick maker and water). Here are some reminders which you need to keep in mind.

1. Do not assume that paper bricks will be as efficient as hardwoods. Of course the best wood to burn in indoor fireplaces (when your only concern is the idea of burning) are hardwoods. You see, paper bricks burn faster and it doesn’t give as much heat with respect to to magnitude as compared to real wood.

2. Since paper bricks burn-out faster, you cannot seriously consider it burning hot while you sleep, it needs constant reloading. So keep some real wood handy, use paper bricks while you are awake (maybe talking or reading close the fireplace) so you can readily reload the fireplace when the paper bricks burn-out. Then use real wood (which burns longer) when you sleep.

3. Using paper bricks is not nonsense (even when it cannot totally replace all your firewood needs). You see, by replacing at least a third of your firewood consumption with paper bricks, you also reduce a third of the wood which needs to be harvested — if in your locality wood is harvested from natural forests then you reduce the rate of deforestation. Or if it is claimed to be harvested in orchards, at least you reduce the usage of trucks and chainsaws which emit C02.

Now follow these simple steps in making a paper brick:

1. Just like in paper mache, rip the newspaper before soaking it in water. It will be easier for you to rip it along the paper grain direction (if you mind). Ripping the paper facilitates the hastening of making the paper mushy. This exposes the paper fibers which makes the brick bond better.

2. Soak the paper for sometime. Soaking loosens the fibers which is a requirement for paper bricks. If you can’t wait that long, at least let it stay for an entire night.

3. Fill the brick maker with the mushy paper, initially squeeze in the paper because if you place in too little paper, the press may not reach until the bottom part of the brick maker and thus not squish all the water. Press the mold hard. The more compressed your brick is, the better.

4. DRY your brick. And when I say dry I mean a good time to dry. Sometimes it takes weeks or even months before the brick really dries up. Summer is the best time to make your bricks, when the sun is brightly hot. Then when the bricks are ready, then it’s Winter time!

5. You can experiment on mixing other stuff with your paper, say, sawdust or some kindling, your choice. You may not include sawdust in the soaking process, simply add it when you are stuffing your brick maker already.

It might have taken some time to let people know that it is not so easy to do it, but the fact that we are constantly getting emails and thank you messages means that we managed to influence those folks in a good manner. I’m not trying to say that we are experts, but we know our job and had some really nice results doing it in the last several decades. After all, while the results are the most important, one should carefully and wisely choose the methods otherwise the aftermath can be a little bit different than what they all expected. I see that for a number of reasons people have started to talk about pest rat electronic control and I decided to give it a try too.

The results are pretty neat. I haven’t thought that rats would be so fast driven to that box without having at least something tasty to eat. I was using some piece of bread, nothing fancy, nothing special; and it worked, like twice in a single night. I’ve managed to catch the second rat even without removing the dead body of the second one. It is important to understand that these Victor pest rat electronic control traps are designed in such a way that they safely, silently and quite calmly kill that rat. Usual old school traps make a lot of noise and people know that it might be time to avoid them from time to time. Nowadays, those who afford to invest a little bit more in electronic gadgets to be used against rats and for killing all types of rodents have the chance to leave in peace and harmony without being worried that something bad might happen.

Due to the fact that they have been doing this for their entire life they are considered to have a lot of skills and experience that helps them face them any problem related to rodents or pest control. This post entitled rat exterminators is one of the posts from the rat control series that we are publishing on this blog lately and which people like you might be interested in. It is not going to be that hard to achieve this kind of success on your own, especially when dealing with rats, but it is what it is and there is no other option than call me in case things don’t go the way they should. I’ve mentioned this plenty of times before regarding money, time and rats.

What do you care about most? If you like your funds and you are doing everything possible to protect them you are going to need to just do the work on your own. However, I’ve manage to read on a DIY pest control forum that usually beginners tend to waste more money than advanced when trying to get rid of rats on their own and this is quite a realistic statistic, taking into consideration that most of the people that are looking for options of exterminating rats on their own are not aware of what should be purchased and what not, what works and what doesn’t, plus many other issues that some of the most professional rat exterminators can introduce you to in a couple of minutes. You can’t compare your intelligence with their experience, because it all requires a lot of time to get and implement. Sorry if something goes wrong from the beginning, it is what it is!

There are many people out there who never had the chance to learn something on their own about do it yourself home improvement and mainly about pest control and are now desperately searching for an advice. What I would like to tell you folks that you guys should check any rat control opportunities which are available, especially rat traps. Snap those rats while you can because it might happen that you wake up one day and realize that something wrong happened and there is nothing that you can do. This is horrible, especially if you are not dealing with mice, but rats. This is just not meant to be and I’m here to prove the vice versa. Please try and provide some tips in the comment box below if you have any ideas, otherwise people will think that most of my readers have absolutely no clue about rat control. You guys are going to exterminate those rats sooner or later.

The main problem is that it should not be too late, do it even before they caused major damage to your house or to your property. So do you get what I mean? There are plenty if good tips that you can learn here at the atheistar.com – the best rat control and home improvement source online. Just follow us on Twitter and Subscribe to our RSS feed and you are going to receive updates about any new rat trap techniques directly into your email.

There is nothing wrong about that and I basically can guarantee that if you are doing everything fine, as we say, you will manage to make rats go away. Remember that rat traps aren’t the only solution, but it is much safer than using toxic poison everywhere! Do you get the idea?
